Microlearning and tools

When developing online courses, it is important to invite students to be an active participant in their learning. There are a variety of ways to accomplish this form of engagement; one way is to provide options for learning using a variety of modalities. Providing students with interactive learning activities will firmly reinforce concepts from written and video instruction. Web applications are one way to achieve this goal within the context of an online course.

Podcasts

I developed a repeatable podcast format and end-to-end production workflow for the National Veterans’ Training Institute, featuring rotating hosts and panels of industry experts across priority topics. Led early episodes from concept to release: facilitating topic and discussion guides, coordinating guests for recording, editing, and managing production logistics, including a semi automated transcript generation process. I ensured a consistent, high-quality listener experience. Documented templates and standards so other instructional designers could scale the series using the same process.

Graphing calculator

I led the writing of the design specifications for a graphing calculator app for Edmentum. This graphing calculator is featured prominently in their mathematics and science courses as students’ go-to tool for data analysis. It features 1D and 2D graphing.
