accessibility and modalities

Learners come from a wide variety of backgrounds and contexts, and effective learning experiences meet them where they are. I believe that expanding accessibility and offering flexible ways to engage with content helps learners learn on their own terms.

I design and build courses to meet Section 508 / WCAG accessibility expectations: structured format headings, accessible navigation options, and and appropriate color use. I build visuals with appropriate alt text, and audio/video content with accurate captions and transcripts. Additionally, when collaborating with subject matter experts, I provide them with clear guidelines for submitting content, ensuring they are not overwhelmed with rules but also that their submissions to not require rework. I’ve applied these practices across web-based content, Articulate Storyline modules, PowerPoint decks, PDFs, and Excel deliverables.

instructor led trainings

I have designed training appropriate for both instructor-led training (ILT) for in-person, live classroom delivery and virtual instructor-led (VILT) delivery. In these materials I include clear facilitation guides with notes for how to deal with ILT and VILT deliveries, learning materials and artifacts, activities, and timing that support smooth, engaging sessions.

I design immersive, job-realistic work simulations that let learners practice skills in context and build confidence before they’re on the job. As the Architect for the Acquisitions Career Gateway at Management Concepts, I designed and led a team of instructional designers in developing a 40-week work-experience pathway. The goal of this program was to train new employees to be career-ready through a space-mission acquisition scenario, aligning their skills with the day-to-day responsibilities of federal acquisition officers. I also created an Analytics Capstone “Data Quest”—a five-day simulation workshop where learners apply end-to-end analytics skills in an unfolding, story-driven scenario investigating dairy farms for financial and testing irregularities, with new evidence introduced each day to drive analysis and decision-making.

ASYNCHRONOUS LEARNING

I bring over 12 years of experience in designing asynchronous learning. Creating clear, engaging, and measurable self-paced experiences that blend strong scaffolded lesson design with practical application. My work spans microlearning through comprehensive programs, incorporating scenario-based practice, meaningful assessments, and iterative improvement based on learner performance and feedback.
